Shia Labeouf News: Fury Movie Actor Says Method Acting Is What Got Him Into Trouble

Oct 20, 2014 07:17 AM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Over the past months, Shia Labeouf news are mostly about his shenanigans. In January, there was a video that caught him head-butting a man during a bar brawl in London. A month after, he was disheveled at the Berlin Film Festival with a paper bag over his head and was reportedly escorted out of a building with hands on handcuffs. He also allegedly sworn and spit on cops. Many thought that the Transformer actor's career is spiraling out of control and they think drugs is the reason behind it.

However, according to Labeouf, it is neither drugs nor any substances that drove him to do such unpleasant things. In a column at Interview Magazine, he said that it is because of the method acting that he took to prepare for a role. According to Page Six website, the "drama-prone actor was simply role-playing when he clashed with Alec Baldwin on the set of "Orphans" and also when he smacked actor Alan Cumming's butt at a performance of "Cabaret," he claimed in Interview Magazine's November issue.

"Alec and I butted heads hard. I was sleeping in the park . . . At the time, I was out of my mind," he said, referring to the brutal confrontation with the veteran actor for the Broadway project. Shia Labeouf said that he pulled out of the show but Baldwin insisted that he was fired because of his bad behavior.

"My whole goal was to intimidate the f-k out of Baldwin. That was the role. And it wasn't going to be fake. I wanted him to be scared . . . So I went about doing that for three weeks of rehearsal," he said.

"I was reading about performance art of the '60s and '70s and so I thought . . . we're all involved here. It's not just your stage. We're all in here and we're all part of this," he said. "I was wrong."
