The 59-year-old actor is talking about his marriage with Angelina Jolie then, admiotting his life was "pretty crazy" and had a "whirlwind" relationship with Jolie.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Thornton explained (finally!) that "vials of blood" that he and his former wife, which became a viral weird and disturbing news during the early 2000s, weren't exactly what it seemed.
According to the Friday Night Lights actor, it was a "crazy time" and that he had really "never been fond of it." He added that, " [The] vial of blood is very simple. You know those lockets you buy that are clear and you put a picture of your grannie in and wear it around your neck? She bought two of those."
At that time, both Thornton and Jolie were apart most of the time was she was filming We were Tomb Raider while he was filming Monster's Ball. Jolie had thought it would be "interesting and romantic" and both "took a little razorblade and sliced our fingers, smeared a little blood on these lockets and you wear it around your neck just like you wear your son or daughter's baby hair in one. Same thing. From that, we were wearing quart jars of blood around our necks. And we were vampires and we lived in a dungeon."
Dungeon? Well, Thornton had something to say about that. He continued that they had a basement in which he made into a recording studio so whenever he told the media that "I stay down in the dungeon all the time, you know, recording music, they don't hear 'recording music,' they hear 'dungeon,'" Thornton says that the journalist did this to make the story seem more interesting.
In 2000, he married actress Angelina who is almost 20 years his junior. The marriage was a media frenzy because of the couple's eccentric ways of affection. Thornton and Jolie announced the adoption of a child from Cambodia in 2002 but the couple separated that same year. Jolie then adopted the child as a single parent.
