Sony's "The 5th Wave," the adaptation of Rick Yancey's popular YA novel, is rounding out the cast ahead, adding "Sons of Anarchy" star Maggie Siff and "Hart of Dixie" actress Talitha Bateman.

Chloe Grace Moretz stars in the film as Cassie, a teen girl who is one of the human survivors after four waves of increasingly deadly attacks left most of Earth decimated. She's on a mission to rescue her younger brother, Sammy, while also trying to prepare for inevitable and lethal fifth wave of attacks by the aliens.

Siff will play Cassie and Sammy's mother, Lisa, who suffers terribly when the third wave releases a plague on Earth. Bateman will play Teacup, a young girl who is also in the child army where Sammy is being held.

Directed by J Blakeson from a screenplay by Susannah Grant, "The 5th Wave" also stars Nick Robinson, Alex Roe, Maika Monroe, LievSchreiber and Ron Livingston.

Tobey MaguireGraham King, Lynn Harris and Matthew Plouffe are producing, while Denis O'Sullivan and Richard Middleton are executive producing.

Andrea Giannetti brought the project to Sony and will oversee for the studio with Hannah Minghella.

After hitting shelves in May 2013, "The 5th Wave" book spent 21 weeks on the New York Times' best-seller list, and sold 300,000 hardcover units and 80,000 e-books.

The second book in the series, "The Infinite Sea," came out Sept. 16 via Penguin's Putnam Juvenile.

Siff most recently starred on FX's hit show "Sons of Anarchy" for six seasons and has also appeared on AMC's "Mad Men."

Bateman will next be seen on TV's "Hart of Dixie" and previously appeared on "The Middle."
