Melissa Rivers Inherited Late Comedian's Estate In NYC Plus Cash, Both Totaling More Than A Hundred Million Dollars

A source told Us Weekly that Melissa Rivers has inherited the bulk of her late mother's estate. Her mother, comedian and television personality Joan Rivers had passed away last September 4 at the age of 81 after being in an induced coma following her cardiac arrest while she was having a routine procedure at a clinic in Yorkville, Manhattan.

Last October 16, it was announced that the New York City medical examiner determined the cause of death was "anoxic encephalopathy due to hypoxic arrest", which was brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

Joan's funeral took place on September 7, 2014 at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan which was attended by several bigwigs in Hollywood. Talk show host Howard Stern delivered the eulogy and described Rivers as "brassy in public [and] classy in private ... a troublemaker, trail blazer, pioneer for comics everywhere, ... [who] fought the stereotypes that women can't be funny."

Joan's daughter, Melissa, will be inheriting $75 million in cash and her mother's French-inspired $35 million condo on New York's Upper East Side. This was according to a source on from Us. Though Melissa received a lot from her mom, receiving an estate is no comparison to losing one's mother so soon.

Last September 17, Melissa Rivers spoke of her mother's death for the first time via Twitter, sincerely thanking everyone for the cards and flowers that conveyed heartfelt messages and condolences. Even though Melissa and her son Cooper are still in mourning, she still took time to thank the people who sent their condolences through social media. She said that her "mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time."

The 46-year-old added, "We are forever grateful for your kindness and support in continuing to honor my mother's legacy, and for remembering the joy and laughter that she brought to so many."
