This "Hitman: Agent 47 cast news puts the spotlight on the action flick's lead star Rupert Friend, who took on the role after Paul Walker's sudden passing.

As it turns out, the "Fast and the Furious" star was the first choice for the movie. But his untimely passing prompted the studio to make some changes that resulted to the delay, confirmed Screen Rant.

The studio had to choose another actor to headline the big screen adaptation of Square Enix's popular video game. And as revealed in this "Hitman: Agent 47" cast news, Friend was the perfect fit. He had the chops needed to carry out the role of the genetically enhanced assassin turned protector.

The poker-faced agent becomes an unlikely hero when he tries protecting her from this shady group of thugs known as the Syndicate. Their attempt to get their hands on the waitress had something to do with a secret she hides. As to what her connection with the group is, and why they were so desperate to get her, fans would learn upon watching the film when it opens in cinemas next year.

According to Movie News, the studio had originally scheduled the action-suspense film for release on February 27, 2015. But because of Walker's sudden demise, 20th Century Fox decided to delay it by six months, moving it to August 28 of the same year.

In addition for this "Hitman: Agent 47 cast news, Rupert Friend would be starring alongside Hannah Ware (the waitress on the run) and Zachary Quinto as John Smith. Fans may not recognize him without the hair and pointy ears, but the actor took on the role of Spock in the blockbuster hit "Star Trek Into the Darkness," which was released in 2014, reported Screen Rant.
