Man Of Steel Henry Cavill Spotted In Gibraltar; Takes A Break From Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice Filming

Oct 31, 2014 10:35 AM EDT | By Josh Samuel

It was nice to see Superman Henry Cavill veer away from long shooting hours for once, and do something worthwhile and equally fulfilling on a different level. Last October 25, the hunk actor flew to Gibraltar to take part in the uphill fundraising run for Royal Marines called "The Rock Run in Gibraltar." He joined his brother Nick, who's a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Marines, in this fundraising activity in line with the Royal Marines' 350th anniversary wherein participants had to run 5km uphill all for charity.

The British actor is an ambassador of the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund and has been active on the group's fundraising initiative. "I will remember this day fondly and probably with a little bit of physical discomfort, which only seems fitting considering what this day represents," Cavill said.

Right after the competition, the "The Immortals" actor also did some co-hosting activities at the Gala Cocktail Reception, where he was greeted with numerous fans wanting to take a selfie with "Clark Kent." Instagram and Twitter feeds were filled with posts about the actor on how gracious and genuine he is. One fan posted, "Henry Cavill is a great guy, charming, very down to earth considering he's Superman."

The Hollywood actor stayed in Gibraltar for 2 days after which he flew back to Michigan to resume filming Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The movie is a direct sequel to last year's "Man of Steel" and will be featuring exciting casts and characters. It recently became the subject of controversy when majority of DC fans were reportedly not happy with the result of casting which features Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as the supervillain Lex Luthor. Even Hunger Games star Jena Malone, who is being rumored to play the female Robin (or batgirl), received mixed reactions from DC fanatics.  We can't wait to see its first trailer which is said to be available by December this year. The much-awaited movie is slated to hit theaters by March 2016.

Recently, DC has revealed its movie plans. (Read more https://www.franchiseherald.com/articles/11341/20141029/marvel-dc-movies-lineup.htm)
