Instagram Deletes Topless Post Of Chelsea Handler, Television Host Cries Sexism

Oct 31, 2014 11:54 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Chelsea Handler versus Instagram? The comedienne had posted a topless photo of herself riding a horse on Instagram last October 30, only to be deleted by the social media platform. After Instagram promptly erased her picture, the 39-year-old television host ranted about gender inequality.

The original picture that was uploaded by Handler was a split of her trying to mimic the Russian president's infamous post. Russia's Vladimir Putin's had formerly appeared in a picture that's chest-baring, a shot while he was horseback-riding in Siberia on 2009. According to the comedienne in a caption, "Anything a man can do, a woman has the right to do better #kremlin."

The photo immediately went viral and Instagram, with its censorship regulation, had taken down the picture instantly.

After the platform deleted the image, the social media agency had sent a message to the Whitney television series star. What was Handler's response to the platform? A screenshot of Intagram's note plus a statement about gender inequality. Handler said, "If a man posts a photo of his nipples, it's ok, but not a woman? Are we in 1825?"

Handler then posted the same photo to another social media platform, Twitter and tweeted, "Taking this down is sexist" The Chelsea Lately host also screen grabbed her Instagram update and said, "I have every right to show I have a better body than Putin."

Attempting a round two, Handler posted the same picture again on Instagram with a caption, "If instagram takes this down again, you're saying Vladimir Putin Has more 1st amendment rights than me. Talk to your bosses." Tough luck to the feisty comedienne as the site deleted it yet again.

Aside from being a comedienne, Chelsea Handler is also an actress, author, television host, writer and a producer. She hosted Chelsea Lately, a late-night talk show on the E! network.
