A To Z Series Canceled But Its Latest Episode Showed It Has More Following Than Thought. Will The Show Be Saved?

The A to Z series cancellation has taken its fans by surprise. Although the NBC show has a promising plot and has received great reviews from several entertainment websites, it failed to get good ratings in its first five episodes. The show, a romantic-comedy that stars How I Met your Mother's Cristin Milioti and Mad Men's Ben Feldman, saw its ratings declined episode by episode after attracting 4.79 million in its debut on October 2. Things went downhill for them since then and this has led to the show's cancellation.

In its latest episode titled "F is for Fight, Fight, Fight," A to Z series showed some signs of life. Whether the news of its cancellation helped or not arouse people's curiosity on the show, it will be hard to know.

According to Inside TV of the Entertainment Weekly, A to Z series saw its viewership performance go up for the first time since the first episode. Its rise is also somewhat surprising given how huge their loss is in the last one.

"The NBC comedy rose in the ratings Thursday night. A to Z had 3.2 million viewers and a 1.0 rating. That's up 43 percent from last week's series-low number," the EW said.

Although it showed life, EW thinks it won't be enough to save A to Z series. It also does not help that it is shown in the same time as ABC's Scandal.

"The only problem is 1.0 is still considered too low to survive by broadcast network standards. The freshman comedy's fellow endangered lead-in Bad Judge (4.2 million, 1.1) also improved, climbing 22 percent. One big caveat: Some NFL premption in Cincinnati inflated these preliminary ratings somewhat, but we're told A to Z's climb is big enough to still have some left over when the nationals come in."

There's still hope though for A to Z series fans. According to executive Rashida Jones, the show is not really canceled and eight more episodes are lined up. Some articles also refer to A To Z Series cancellation as 'quasi'. Jones used a #SaveAtoZ hashtag to help save her show.

On her Twitter account, Rashid said:

@iamrashidajones:

@iamrashidajones: If you love #AtoZ keep watching!!Because YOU can save us!! @NBC_AtoZ #saveatoz This Thursday 9:30pm. F is for Fight for the show you love.
