After all the speculations about the upcoming "Bourne 5" movie, news finally surface online finally confirming the return of Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass in the next installment of "The Bourne" series! The online community exploded after official news on the upcoming "Bourne 5" was released this weekend. During the event for television series "Project Greenlight" where best buddies Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were in attendance, the latter let it slip about his best friend's next project.
Talking to E! News, Affleck shares, "well, [Damon's] going to be doing a 'Bourne' movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness."
To which Matt Damon obliged to confirm the information talking to E! News as well. For the "Bourne 5" movie, however unsure if it will be "The Bourne Betrayal", Matt Damon shares, "Yes, next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
So that's settled then: we know we have Matt Damon to lead the "Bourne 5" movie, and Paul Greengrass set to return to the Director's chair. We also have confirmed through this Matt Damon interview that the "Bourne 5" movie release date will be on 2016.
While again we hear no information about the story of the "Bourne 5" movie-we are sure about one thing, the plot is refocused to Matt Damon's character, Jason Bourne and moved away from Aaron Cross, played by Jeremy Renner, which means one other thing: this could be "The Bourne Betrayal".
"The Bourne Betrayal" is Robert Ludlum's "Bourne 5", where Jason Bourne is tasked to rescue co-CIA agent in a terrorist-infested country. This "Bourne 5" movie plot does not feature the continuation of the latest "Bourne" movie released in 2012, "The Bourne Legacy" which features Aaron Cross as lead character. So, what happens to Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross?
According to speculations online, "The Bourne Legacy" storyline will continue, however this will be completely separate from Matt Damon's recently announced "Bourne 5". Although it seems more obvious (plot-wise) that "The Bourne Betrayal" will be the "Bourne 5" movie that features the return of Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass, official announcement on the actual "Bourne 5" remains to be heard.
