His career wasn't very smooth sailing, though.
The 'Nymphomaniac' actor had several run-ins with the law because of his drinking problems and anger management issues. However, it looks like his bad boy image made him even more attractive to other female celebrities.
Rumors of him dating several of his co-stars followed the actor around, including his 'Transformers' leading ladies, Megan Fox and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as well as 'Disturbia' star Sarah Roemer.
His confirmed ex-girlfriends, however, include Carey Mulligan and China Brezner, whom he met while filming 'The Greatest Game Ever Played.'
He also maintained a two-year relationship with stylist, Karolyn Pho but the pair broke up amidst news of the actor agreeing to shoot real sex scenes for 'Nymphomaniac.'
He eventually started dating his 'Nymphomaniac' co-star Mia Goth in 2013.
