Under The Dome Season 3 Cast Mike Vogel Selected As Lead Actor For New Syfy Mini-Series

Under the Dome Season 3 is yet to start production but its lead cast Mike Vogel will be busy in the coming weeks. There's no release date yet for the Stephen King novel-based series so it is pretty safe to say the Vogel will be vacant in the coming months. Thus, Syfy cast him for an upcoming mini-series that is pretty similar with the CBS sci-fi drama.

In a report by the Entertainment Weekly, it is revealed that the Under the Dome star has been chosen as the lead star for Childhood's End.

The entertainment website wrote:

"Syfy's Childhood's End has found its lead: EW can exclusively report the miniseries has cast Mike Vogel (Under the Dome, Bates Motel) as Ricky Stormgren, a midwestern farmer whose life is turned upside down when he is chosen to be the sole representative on Earth for an alien species apparently seeking to aide humanity. "Ricky struggles with his new-found fame as a blue collar prophet, facing the weight of the entire world looking to him for answers."

The new Syfy series that Mike Vogel will star in is based on Arthur C. Clarke's 1953 novel and will be produced by Akiva Goldsman (Lone Survivor) and Mike DeLuca (Captain Philips). It will run for six hours and is one of several productions that embraces the traditional science fiction format Syfy will produce.

Childhood's End will also star Game of Thrones star and Emmy nominee Charles Dance, who will portray the alien Overlord Karellen. It also features Ashley Zukerman (Manhattan) and Osy Ikhile (Clap!).

Is Mike Vogel going to stay in Under the Dome Season 3 until the very last episode? As we all know, the show is not afraid to kill off some of its major characters. In Under the Dome Season 2, Britt Robertson's Angie McAlister and Natalie Martinez's Deputy Linda Esquivel were killed in just the first episode. Before the same season ended, two major additions were also killed namely Pauline Rennie (played by Sherry Stringfield) and Lyle Chumley (played by Dwight Yoakam).
