Wireless Zone Announces To Open 10 Stores In New York

Nov 22, 2014 06:25 AM EST | By Jane Galvez

Wireless Zone announced plans to open 10 new stores in New York before 2016. As the largest Verizon Wireless franchise, the expansion will start with four new locations to open by December.

Director of franchise development for Wireless Zone, Janet Labanara, said, "Wireless Zone has more than 400 stores nationwide, and we are excited to expand and add new locations throughout New York."

Labanara said that they currently have 30 stores in the state, but plans to expand more with the help of John Russell, the franchise owner of the upcoming Wireless Zone stores.

Russell worked with the retailer for five years before becoming a franchise owner in 2010. In 18 months, he has opened 18 stores in states Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Kentucky. The franchisee aims to open 50 stores, citing New York to expand his business.

Russell said that even before the start of 2015, he'll be opening 26 stores nationwide thanks to his new locations in New York.

"This is a whole new market for us and my team is finding out accessory sales are making a higher percent of profit and given the city's tight-knit communities, we are able to market those products differently than before. We're looking forward to growing in that regard," said Russell.

The New York expansion started when the Second and Lexington Avenue stores opened. The next store openings will be on Delancey Street and Park Avenue South. More Wireless Zone locations will start cropping up until the next year.

The Wireless Zone, founded in 1988 as "The Car Phone Store," is Verizon Wireless's retaile. The retailer offers Verizon Wireless's services and products. Entrepreneur ranks the retailer number one franchiser in its category. It currently has more than 400 stores nationwide.
