Sage Moonblood Stallone, the 36-year old son of actor Sylvester Stallone's, was found dead in his Los Angeles home Friday and reports say he "may have been dead for days" before being discovered.

TMZ  reported the cause was an apparent pill or drug overdose. Meanwhile, officials say that no suicide note was found in the apartment which suggests it may have been accidental. One law enforcement source called the room "disgusting," that it had a strong stench of smells, the report said.

"It could have been a heart attack or a stroke," LAPD Commander Andrew Smith said, adding the coroner's office will likely spend several weeks on a toxicology report before it determines cause of death. He did not offer further details.

The body of Sage was found by his housekeeper, said his lawyer, George Braunstein. There were no signs of forced entry and no foul play was immediately suspected. His lawyer denies that it could have been a suicide.

"We don't have any of the details," Braunstein said. "He wasn't depressed. He was thinking about getting married. He had his whole life ahead of him."

Sylvester Stallone - who had been at San Diego Comic-Con promoting his upcoming film, "Expendables 2" - "is devastated and grief-stricken," according to his rep, Michelle Bega. "His compassion and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever," she added.

Sage Moonblood Stallone was the oldest of Sylvester Stallone's children and appeared with his father in two films. He made his acting debut in 1990's "Rocky V," and also appeared with his father in 1996's "Daylight."

The younger Stallone was also in most recently Vincent Gallo's 2010 flick "Promises Written in Water." He also co-founded Grindhouse Releasing, a company that restores exploitation films.
