Dec 19, 2014 01:45 AM EST | By Staff Reporter

It was revealed just recently that ‘7th Heaven’ alum Stephen Collins allegedly confessed to molesting and exposing himself to girls as young as 11. His estranged wife Faye Grant has reportedly leaked the confession that was caught on tape during one of their therapy session in 2012 – now he is confessing to sexually abusing the three girls mentioned on the audiotape from 1973 to 1994.

The veteran actor tells People magazine in a thousand-word statement that his behavior is ‘inexcusable’ and clarified that he did not expose himself to other girls since 1994, "I deeply regret the mistakes I've made and any pain I have caused these three women,'' Collins said, "I admit to, apologize for and take responsibility for what I did.''

"Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret,” he continued, “I have been working to atone for it ever since. I've decided to address these issues publicly because two months ago, various news organizations published a recording made by my then-wife, Faye Grant, during a confidential marriage therapy session in January 2012.

This session was recorded without the therapist's or my knowledge or consent," the 7th Heaven star pens "On the recording, I described events that took place 20, 32, and 40 years ago. The publication of the recording has resulted in assumptions and innuendos about what I did that go far beyond what actually occurred."

"As difficult as this is," he continues, "I want people to know the truth."

Collins played the role of father of the Camden brood and reverend to the town's people in the show ‘7th Heaven’. He also starred in TV shows including The Fosters, Scandal, and Private Practice. He has also acted in movies such as Blood Diamond and All the President’s Men.
