Ann Curry appeared alongside her former co-host Matt Lauer on Thursday morning in a live broadcast for the "Today" show from the London Olympics where the tension was evident between the two.

Curry was ousted from her job as co-host of "Today" after a yearlong decline at the once-invincible morning franchise, which saw its 16-year ratings winning streak snapped earlier this year by ABC's"Good Morning America." Although Curry took the blame for the stumble, her exit has not put an end to "Today's" woes. Curry also told Ladies Home Journal her bosses also hated her perky outfits.

When Lauer, 54, greeted her with an "Ann, nice to see you," Curry stayed quiet and nodded. She similarly didn't reply when, following her segment, Lauer said, "Good to see you."  The story surrounding the tension is that Curry holds resentment for her $25 million-per-year co-host for not standing up for her when NBC executives gave her the boot

The tense reunion isn't too surprising. In a heartbreaking farewell, Curry burst into tears when saying goodbye to viewers and her colleagues after the show fired her as co-host and replaced her with Savannah Guthrie.

Behind the scenes, it was a different story. "It was so icy on the set," an insider told Us Weekly of the days leading up to Curry's exit. "You could cut the tension with a knife."

"When the cameras stopped rolling, Ann wouldn't even look at Matt," says the set source. (Indeed, Curry pointedly hugged each of her colleagues except for Lauer on her final show.)
