"Banshee" TV series cast Geno Segers has been getting love and hate from fans ever since joining the show in second season.
Segers' Chayton Littlestone came into the Cinemax pulp action series as one of the antagonists of lead character Lucas Hood (Antonny Starr).
In "Banshee" season 3, Segers was promoted into a series regular and is now dubbed as the show's big bad. The most evil thing he did so far is snapping the neck of fan favorite and Lucas' girlfriend Siobhan Kelly (Trieste Kelly Dunn). With that act, the new "Banshee" season 3 cast regular instantly became the most hated amongst fans.
Segers anticipated the violent reactions from fans. Talking to KSDK, the American actor and former rugby player said the hatred from fans is natural, admitting that he himself is not sold with Chayton's action.
"I learned very quickly that people viewed it differently. Some people sided with Chayton. Being a Fanshee myself, I didn't side with Chayton. I wanted to see him die a miserable death," the "Banshe" TV series cast said.
Segers also shared a story about one fan who wished him to die because of his "Banshee" character.
"The line got crossed only once, and this guy said something to me about wanting the actor who played Chayton to die. Come on man. I'm just doing what the writers want me to do," the actor said. "Some people enjoy the freedom they have to speak bluntly over Twitter and social media whereas they couldn't say it in person. When I see people in public, it's all about love. It's praise."
The "Banshee" TV series cast also insisted that Lucas Hood, the main protagonist of the show is not really a good guy. As for Chayton, "the rebellious member of the Kinaho tribe is not a villain but an anti-protagonist."
"All you have to do is look at the protagonist of the show," he explained. "Hood is not a good guy. Who is a good guy and who is a bad guy? I call them pro-antagonists and anti-protagonists. Chayton is an anti-protagonist because he is a bad guy with a good moral compass (or at least he used to be). He had a plan and beliefs but now he is a mad dog and no one is going to side with a mad dog."
Segers and the rest of "Banshee" TV series cast return today for the third season's eighth episode titled "All the Wisdom I Got Left."
