After a scandal involving animal welfare violations at a California slaughterhouse broke out, an In-N-Out devoted customer tool to Change.org and created a petition lobbying In-N-Out Burger to offer a veggie burger.

In a Change.org petition, Ari Solomon is calling for the Southern California institution to offer veggie burgers for vegetarians who miss eating at In-N-Out. The petition comes after an undercover video showed employees at the Central Valley Meat Co. beating, kicking, shooting and shocking cows en route to their slaughter. Shortly after the video surfaced, In-N-Out Burger was one of the chains that suspended purchases from the facility.

"In-N-Out did the right thing and said they would no longer buy from this supplier, but it's the 21st century and I think it's high time they offer a veggie burger option for customers who don't want to eat animals or just want a little diversity with an environmentally-friendly, healthier option once in a while," Solomon wrote.

"I know In-N-Out prides itself on being ahead of the other fast food outlets, so how amazing would it be if vegans and vegetarians from students to A-list celebs and everyone in between could go enjoy a burger?"

Thus far, more than 2,300 signatures have been collection on the petition, which reads:

"Greetings,

I just signed the following petition addressed to: In-N-Out Burger.

Offer a veggie burger!

Saw on ABC World News Tonight that one of the beef suppliers In-N-Out was buying from was shut down because they were violating animal cruelty laws and treating the cows horrendously. In-N-Out did the right thing and said they would no longer buy from this supplier, but it's the 21st century and I think it's high time they offer a veggie burger option for customers who don't want to eat animals at all. A veggie burger is also a healthier option and one that does less damage to the environment."
