‘Quantum Break’ Release Date Pushed Back Until 2016; Too Much Lineup Of Blockbusters For 2015 Could Be The Cause

Apr 05, 2015 11:29 AM EDT | By Paula Smith

"Quantum Break" release date has been delayed, as announced by Microsoft on Xbox Wire.

Though it's one of the most disappointing news for Xbox One console owners, Microsoft "believes this to be a positive thing," Attack of the Fanboy reported.

"Game looks fantastic & making great progress but giving something this innovative more time we believe is a good thing,'' Xbox head of marketing Aaron Greenberg posted on Twitter.

Microsoft added that "Quantum Break" delay may not be a huge loss since there are other blockbusters on the lineup.

"We've got the strongest games lineup in Xbox history right now, with 2015 blockbuster exclusives like 'Halo 5: Guardians,' 'Rise of the Tomb Raider,' 'Fable Legends' and 'Forza Motorsport 6,' and more we'll announce in the coming months," said Shannon Loftis, Head of Publishing.

"With so many games launching this year, moving 'Quantum Break' to 2016 extends our incredible portfolio into next year with a monster new IP."

"Quantum Break," developed by Remedy Entertainment - the creator of "Max Payne" and "Alan Wake'' was expected to be released some time this year.

Attack of the Fanboy noted that the "Quantum Break" delay on its release is a wiser move to fix network errors, bugs and glitches, and there should be less issue when it comes out.

"We're really proud to be part of the incredible Xbox One line-up," said Sam Lake Creative Director of Remedy Entertainment.

"We thank our fans for their patience, and want them to know that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity to polish and fine tune the game to create the kind of standout entertainment experience they've come to expect from us."

Meanwhile, Nintendo also announced that the "Legend of Zelda" game for the Wii U has been delayed too and won't show up at E3 in June.
