Floyd Mayweather – Manny Pacquiao Fight To Be Cancelled? Bob Arum Hints Of Contract Dispute With The Hosts Of The Bout

It is probably hard to find a person who is not excited about the Floyd Mayweather - Manny Pacquiao fight which will take place on May 2 at the MGN Grand Arena. This bout, dubbed as the fight of the century, pits two of the most successful boxers of recent generation. One is undefeated in 47 matches while the other is a champion in eight divisions, the first and only fighter to do so. It is normal to feel agitated about this fight. However, with this latest news, fans might want to keep their emotions in check.

In a shocking revelation by Top Rank CEO Bob Arum, it seems the road to MGM Grand Arena for the Floyd Mayweather - Manny Pacquiao fight is not that smooth. In fact, there is a possibility that it might be called off because of one glaring lapse made by one of the parties involved. Arum, who is also the promoter of Pacquiao, told in an interview with Yahoo writer and 2014 NV Boxing Hall of Fame Inductee Kevin Iole:

"Fight? We've got nothing. They're [the MGM] going around saying, 'The fight, the fight, blah, blah, blah,' but they got nothing. They have no contract. Nothing. We haven't even seen a draft. ... What is happening now is absolutely intolerable. For the MGM to think that everything is resolved and so forth, when nobody has even discussed terms, is the most insane thing ever."

This is definitely a bad news for those who have waited (painfully) for the Floyd Mayweather - Manny Pacquiao fight to happen since 2008. However, it seems Arum was just over reacting. From the camp of Pretty Boy, they said the Top Rank CEO is just being his typical self, blowing things out of proportion.

"This is typical Bob. He has in his possession a draft term sheet with all the deal points. I have been in communication with him and have updated him every step along the way on what is going on and getting his feedback, etc.," said Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions.

"I think he's a terrific promoter, and I want you to write that, if you will. He is without a doubt, a great promoter. But he's also known for erupting when he doesn't get his way and the reality is setting in that he's not the lead promoter."

UPDATE:

Kevin Iole tweeted that Arum said he already has the draft for the Floyd Mayweather - Manny Pacquiao fight.
