Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska share a dark romance in the "Crimson Peak" trailer released at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas last Thursday. According to director Guillermo Del Toro, he intends to turn it into a "Gothic romance."

"When I was growing up, I loved Gothic romance," the "Pacific Rim" helmer said during the CinemaCon panel for "Crimson Peak."

He continued that the upcoming horror film "has very sick and twisted elements in it" which made the director "like it."

"And I wanted an operatic spectacle," he added.

The "Crimson Peak" trailer unveiled at the event reportedly made the audience gasp according to Boston Herald.

The film revolves around the mysterious life of "Avengers" actor Tom Hiddleston and "A Most Violent Year" star Jessica Chastain as siblings in an eerie house. Mia Wasikowska joins the family when she becomes Hiddleston's bride but soon, she finds out that her new husband isn't the debonair lord that she initially thought he was. Figuring out what his secret is may just turn into a very bloody affair.

Set in the 19th century, the entire film is centered on the massive old home that Hiddleston and Chastain lived on all their lives.

Instead of relying on CGI and special effects, "The Strain" showrunner opted to make the actual house as tangible as possible.

The film crew reportedly built an entire four-storey mansion for "Crimson Peak."

"I wanted to make the film mostly practical, with no greenscreen," Del Toro added.

Meanwhile, the horror story expert himself, Stephen King, admitted that the upcoming film was "gorgeous and just f-king terrifying."

"Remember that list I tweeted the other day, the 13 most beautiful horror films?" King's son, who's also a fellow horror writer, also tweeted. "'Crimson Peak' is the most beautiful of all."

The Legendary-produced film will be perfect for a Halloween movie outing when it hits cinemas on October 16.
