'Legends Of Tomorrow' Cast Ciara Renee Talks About Role As Hawkgirl And Her Character's Appearance In 'The Flash'

Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders is one of the new major comic book characters to debut in a live action program via the "Arrow" - "The Flash" spinoff series "Legends of Tomorrow."

The actress who will portray the gravity-defying superhero is also relatively new, Ciara Renee. Other DC superheroes that are part of the show are "The Flash" alumni Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and half of Firestorm Dr. Marten Stein (Victor Garber). Former Team Arrow members like The Atom (Brandon Routh) and Sarah Lance (Caity Lotz) are also in.

Renee is aware of how big Hawgirl is in the comics and animated versions. That, for her, is a challenge she would gladly take on. She even has a plan now on how she will take on the role. Talking to Comicbook.com, Renee teases it will be a surprise for many fans when they see Kendra gets angry on "Arrow" - "Flash" spinoff series.

In the comics and even on the Justice League animated series, Hawkgirl has usually been a sort of balls-to-the-wall take nothing from anybody kind of character. Is that something you're looking to bring to her on Legends?

CR: Oh yeah, absolutely. It's interesting, because I think we're finding her before she really understands her powers and her purpose. So she's not necessarily a balls-to-the-wall human just yet, but when she gets angry... well you'll see! (laughs)

"Legends of Tomorrow" will not be around until the middle part of the 2015-2016 season of CW Network. However, fans do not have to wait that long for Hawkgirl as she will appear in the final episode of the first season of "The Flash" this coming Tuesday. Renee even teased it will be a "cool" appearance of her character.

"Right! It was super cool. It was kind of a last minute thing. I signed on for the show, and they said, "Let's try this!" and I just said, "Absolutely!" I'm excited to see it and how that turned out."

"Legends of Tomorrow" is expected to crossover with "The Flash" and "Arrow."
