Kobe Bryant News: Warriors Coach Would Rather Have Black Mamba Take Last Shot Instead Of Stephen Curry

May 17, 2015 01:05 PM EDT | By Rolly Gacelo

There is not much Kobe Bryant news around. The only thing fans see him become relevant again is when he tweets about the ongoing NBA Playoffs wherein his team Los Angeles Lakers failed to qualify.

But of course, since it is the post-season and mos games go down the wire, there are also conversations on who is the most clutch player around. That is where the Black Mamba's name comes in. Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry, Washington Wizards' Paul Pierce, Cleveland Cavaliers' Lebron James, and Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose are also in the conversations.

Put all those players in the court and with few seconds left, who would fans choose to take the last shot? That will always be debatable. Golden State Warriors assistant coach Luke Walton has a surprising take though. He does not prefer his own player Stephen Curry to have the ball. Instead, when it goes down the wire, he will look for his former teammate Kobe Bryant.

"I think you have to go with Kobe. He's proven himself over a long career that he's one of the best finishers in the history of the NBA," Walton said according to a report by SF Gate.

"He wanted it, and he would tell you. I mean, everybody in the building knew Kobe was getting the ball at the end of the game, and it still didn't really matter.

The Golden State Warriors assistant coach explained Kobe Bryant and Stephen Curry are no different and him choosing the Los Angeles Lakers legend is not a knock on the 2014-2015 NBA MVP.

"That being said, Steph is very similar. He's hit a couple of game-winners for us at the buzzer. He loves that moment. When we're at practice, you see it every day. Whenever we're scrimmaging and having a close game, the majority of the time, he will hit a game-winning shot. He embraces and enjoys that moment. When I choose Kobe, it's not because I don't feel confident with Steph taking it."
