'Furious 7' Sequel Rumors Debunked; Vin Diesel Allegedly Claimed To Shoot Scenes Of 'Furious 8 In The Philippines As Paul Walker's Brother Confirmed To Return

While a "Furious 7" sequel is confirmed to happen, there are rumors claiming that the upcoming movie is going to shoot scenes in the Philippines.

Aside from the release date, which is scheduled on April 4, 2017, very few details have been made available about the sequel.

However, Manila Live Wire has claimed that the franchise's main man, Vin Diesel said that some scenes will be shot in the country.

Unfortunately, there was nothing to back up the claims of the publication, and the mentioned statements from Vin Diesel was nowhere to be found as well.

The only time that the 47-year-old action star spoke of the Philippines was when he actually visited the country for the promotion of "Fast & Furious 6," which was two years ago.

"Our tour here was so incredible that when I go back to LA and when we start doing, developing 7, 8, 9, I will tell Universal that I want to shoot in the Philippines. That is because of you," Diesel said at the premiere night.

"This is the best premiere I've ever been to in my life. As you know my sister-in-law is from the Philippines and she told me to say this: 'Mahal ko kayo.'"

His statement was way before "Furious 7" was in the works nor its sequel.

Another rumor that's surrounding the car-chase franchise is the coming back of Paul Walker's brother, Cody Walker in the sequel.

"I'm not sure if they are going to make an eighth movie, but if they did, I'm sure he would entertain a conversation (about a role)," he told NY Daily News according to Enstarz.

While there's a big chance that this would happen, following the success of "Furious 7" with his help, it's still uncertain if what role would he play.

However, IB Times speculated that he could play an entirely different character from that of Paul Walker's Brian O'Conner since it's already been retired in the last scenes of "Furious 7."

Mail Online on the other hand suggested that Cody could be joining the team as a new crew, following O'Conner's retirement.

"Paul's character Brian O'Conner will be seen retiring, while his younger brother will join the crew as a new character. Cody isn't a replacement for Paul in any way. It would be a tribute to Paul that Cody carries on the Walker name in the Fast and The Furious movies."
