Following reports that male lead star Jamie Dornan will no longer appear in "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie sequel, "Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill is reportedly being eyed to join the film.

While fans may think that Superman will replace Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey in the sequel, Movie News Guide reported that he will instead play the novel's bad guy, Jack Hyde.

In E.L. James' novel "Fifty Shades Darker," Hyde is Anastasia Steele's boss "described as a man with with sensual blues eyes that can pierce your heart."

"Man of Steel" star Henry Cavill was previously reported to be director Sam Taylor-Johnson's first choice to portray the role of Christian Grey, which eventually went to the Northern Irish actor, Jamie Dornan.

In addition to Movie News Guide, The Examiner also reported that there are different sources claiming Henry Cavill's involvement with "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie sequel.

"Numerous sources have rumors circulating that Cavill might be cast as Anastasia Steele's commanding boss (and sometimes considered an antagonistic "villain"), Jack Hyde," the publication stated. "While difficult to define him as a complete enemy in the books, he does have some devious plans in store for Ana as well as a dark past and some serious history with - and angst towards - the Greys."

The sequel titled, "Fifty Shades Darker" will continue the love story between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele after their heartbreaking split in the last movie.

Steele, who has now graduated from college will pursue her career by working with the Seattle Independent Publishing House, where she will eventually meet Jack Hyde - rumored to be portrayed by Henry Cavill.

"But desire for Christian still dominates her every waking thought, and when he proposes a new arrangement, Anastasia cannot resist. They rekindle their searing sexual affair, and Anastasia learns more about the harrowing past of her damaged, driven and demanding Fifty Shades," the summary said.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" movie sequel is slated for a 2017 release date, but with director Sam Taylor-Johnson's exit, the movie is still on ice.
