Jeremy Clarkson’s New Show, Chris Evans’ ‘Top Gear’ To Go Head-To-Head? ‘Jezza’ And Co. Reportedly Headed To ITV

Just before his last "Top Gear" episode, a report said Jeremy Clarkson's new show is headed for ITV. More intriguing is that the show, co-presented by James May and Richard Hammond, will reportedly go head-to-head with the now Chris Evans-fronted BBC motoring show.

"Clarkson and co-presenters Richard Hammond and James May were aid to have 'jumped at the chance' to blow the ginger star's revamped version of their old show out of the water," The Mirror said.

Reportedly, signing with ITV is Clarkson's "perfect revenge" after an unnamed BBC executive compared him to serial child abuser Jimmy Savile before his contract was cancelled.

"The boys believe with the backing of ITV and a prime-time slot they can easily match, and probably beat, their BBC2 viewing figures," a source close to the negotiations said.

ITV bosses are so confident about Jeremy Clarkson's new show coming to their network that they allegedly chose to put it at the Sunday 8 p.m. time slot - the same one as their old show "Top Gear."

"The thought of making a show for the BBC's main rival is very appealing for [Clarkson, Hammond and May]," the source added.

Of course, ITV isn't the only option for the former "Top Gear" team. American online streaming giant Netflix is also reportedly being considered.

Either way, the trio, along with former "Top Gear" executive producer Andy Wilman will be on board the project. They are reportedly keen on retaining creative control over the Jeremy Clarkson's new show.

"The truth of the matter is, we are still talking to different people," Wilman said as reported by iDigitalTimes. "All we know is that we want to stay together and carry on making a car show. There is a will for it - the public want it, broadcasters want it - so the stars are aligning in the right way. Once this show's gone out and we've got closure, we'll crack on."

The official announcement is expected in the coming weeks.
