2K Games confirmed that "XCOM 2" release was pushed to February 2016.

"XCOM: Enemy Within" sequel was announced earlier this year and has been slated for a release this coming fall. But due to its predecessor's high praises, Firaxis Studios had to delay its release to "make it the best possible game," Bidness ETC reported.

The delay was announced by the game developers on "XCOM 2's" dedicated website.

"Hello XCOM fans,

We want to give you an update on the release date for XCOM 2. We've set a high bar for the sequel and the entire team has been working hard to make sure we deliver a great follow-up to Enemy Unknown. We just need a little more time to make it the best possible game.

With XCOM 2, we want to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and this extension will give us the time we need to deliver on our promise to you.

We appreciate your patience and continued support as we move towards February. Good luck, Commander!

After "XCOM 2" new release date was announced, it was showcased at PAX 2015 presented by Firaxis game designer Jake Solomon, according to Hexus.

"We've played through the game a bunch of times so now we're putting a little extra love on it to make it as good a game as it can be," said Jake Solomon.

At the said event, "XCOM 2" gameplay revealed a new game strategy as aliens have invaded the Earth.

"It seems like missions will require players to be more strategic and stealthy when it comes to reaching the goal. Players also do not have the resources they used to own, so they have to be careful with the equipment and characters used in each mission," IB times wrote.

IB Times added that 2K Games' "XCOM 2" will be a PC exclusive when released on Feb. 5, 2015, though it might land on gaming consoles too.
