Postponed ‘No Man’s Sky’ Demo, Amazon Gaffe Fuel Paris Games Week Release Date Speculation

A combination of Hello Games putting off a demo and Amazon's gaffe has prompted speculation that a "No Man's Sky" release date announcement at Paris Games Week is imminent.

The highly-anticipated adventure-survival video game was supposed to have a demo at GameCity Festival but developer Hello Games announced it's been postponed.

"We realize how disappointing this news is for fans of both the game and the festival, but we hope they can take some comfort in the fact that No Man's Saturday WILL be being rescheduled for a later date," HG said in a statement.

No reason was given for moving the demo. But Tech Times reported of rumors suggesting Hello Games did it to prepare for "No Man's Sky" release date at Paris Games Week on Oct. 27.

Adding fuel to the speculation are numerous user reports of Amazon sending out emails to people who pre-ordered the game that it will be ready by Oct. 28. A thread on Reddit was quickly set-up by users where a rep for the online retail giant responded.

"That e-mail was sent by mistake," the rep wrote. "We still haven't been given a release date for this item by the publisher. You'll receive another e-mail from us soon to confirm that we don't have a release date yet."

But Redditors aren't buying the explanation.

"I think Amazon knows something and quite possibly signed an embargo/[non-disclosure agreement] about the release date, and then f*cked up with server load or something," one user said.

Another user pointed out a Forbes article mentioning an Amazon UK customer receiving the same kind of email. Another noted how "No Man's Sky" already has an EAN code, basically a barcode, which prompted the retailer's system to send the emails because it got a notification from the supplier.

All these speculations follow a rumor from industry insider Tidux alleging a "No Man's Sky" release date and price announcement is set for Paris Games Week, as Franchise Herald previously reported.

The event is just a few days away from now so keep your fingers crossed fanboys.
