Want to build your own burger? You may soon be able to at McDonald's as the company is currently trying out its own build-you-own burger in Laguna Niguel, Calif., Fox News reported Sunday.

"Customization represents another important opportunity for our business," Kevin Newell, chief brand and strategy officer for the U.S told Fox News. "(McDonald's is equipping its kitchens with new) assembly tables (that can accommodate more ingredients.)"

The new furniture is expected to increase the quickness of service, which the company has focused on improving since expanding its menu items.

"These tests represent just one aspect of our broader menu innovation," said Lisa McComb, a spokeswoman for McDonald's, in an emailed statement. "Just how far McDonald's can go in offering customization remains to be seen Richard Adams, who runs a consulting firm for McDonald's franchises told Fox News. "Their growth potential has to be built on speed, not customization."

McDonald's new menu items include cayenne and chili pepper Mighty Wings USA Today reported. These can be paired with creamy ranch, honey mustard or tangy barbecue. The wings are available for purchase in three, five, or 10-piece packs beginning at $2.99.

"They're being more innovative, and they're being more aggressive with the changes on their menu," Peter Saleh, an analyst at New York-based Telsey Advisory Group told Bloomberg in August. "This is good news because it's in conjunction with the football season."

The company has also increased its infamous dollar menu to include $2 and $5 items for a new "Dollar Menu and More" selection.

The menu includes single burgers, double patty burgers, deluxe burgers, and additional chicken options.

McDonald's also announced plans to put a third drive-thru pick up window at all of locations so customers can get in and out of drive-thru lines faster The Associated Press reported Thursday.

"The slowest function is delivering the food," Jedele told The Columbus Post-Dispatch. "With the third window, we've been able to more quickly take care of our guests."
