NBA Trade Rumor: 'Unwanted' Brooklyn Nets Player Should Be Released Says Father

There are NBA trade rumors saying one of Brooklyn Nets' cornerstone Brook Lopez could leave the team.

Brook Lopez, who made to the All-Star Game while with the New York-based club, is one of the most trade-able assets the Nets have and there is a possibility the team will take that path.

While NBA trade rumors regarding Brook Lopez is yet to be confirmed, there is another Nets player that is available in the market. This is a "partly" confirmed rumor since it is his father who revealed it.

Sergey Karasev, a 22-year old Russian shooting guard, should be released out of Barclays Center says his father.

"Sergey is starting to discuss trade scenarios," his father Vasily, a Russian coach, told Russian media SovSport as translated by NetsDaily. "He's a young guy (22), he has to play. He feels that he's fully rehabbed, that his health is good. So to sit on the bench for a whole year is just not acceptable."

Sergey's father also blasted Nets coach Lionel Hollins for not taking advantage of the talent of his son.

"It's totally confusing," said Karasev, once one of Russia's best players and now coach of Zenit in the Russian basketball league. "Sergey is totally healthy. But the coach seems to be thinking something different: he said that he does not see Sergey as part of the team. Based on what I've seen personally - the team is in total disarray. If I went there myself - even that would be better. The team has no game."

Although his father is not happy with the way his career is going, Sergey insists his heart is still with Nets saying it is just natural for a father to react that way.

"My dad, he's my biggest fan, so he has his own opinion," said Sergey who so far has only logged in six minutes for the team he signed with at the start of the season.

"I can't control what he says to the press. A lot of people want that I play, especially back home in Russia, so they have their own opinion. I'm with the Nets. I love this organization, I like Coach Hollins, so I just keep working hard. I'm just with this team right now. All my focus, all my mind is to win the game. That's why I'm here."
