NBA Trade Rumor: Flop Rockets Point Guard Is Being Put Back In The Market

Dec 01, 2015 08:52 PM EST | By Rolly Gacelo

Ty Lawson was acquired by Houston Rockets from Denver Nuggets during the offseason with high hopes. With team almost complete in other four positions, they thought of the 2009-draftee as someone who can lead their backcourt. However, according to NBA trade rumors, things did not pan out the way Rockets expected it and so, he is on his way out.

With the trade market about to open, reports have it that the struggling 2015 season Western Conference finalist is looking to ship Lawson.

"The Rockets have been sniffing around the league for deals and there is a belief among other teams that Lawson could be had in trade, and had cheaply," an NBA trade rumor from Basketball Insiders claimed. "Lawson is owed $12.4 million this season with the final $13.21 million of his deal being fully non-guaranteed."

The report points Lawson's poor form this season as the reason why Rockets wants him to be traded.

"As the Rockets search for ways to change, there is a belief that Lawson could be the first Rocket player moved," it further wrote.

"But given how poorly Lawson has played in Houston and his troublesome off-the-court history, it's hard to imagine that Lawson alone is going to yield much in return. But as teams start to get desperate, Lawson does have a career assist average of more than 6.5 assists per game and averaged 9.6 per game last season for the Nuggets."

It is hard to imagine Rockets not getting dragged in any NBA trade rumor right now. They are currently sporting a 7-11 win-loss record, far from their expectations going into the season. Just last month, they made the biggest decision by firing coach Kevin McHale. However, nothing really changed for them as they lost seven in their last 10 games.

Ty Lawson offers nothing much as he only averages 7 points per game, a far cry from his 15.2 with Denver last season.
