Ian Somerhalder Definitely Leaving 'The Vampire Diaries' Following The Exit Of Nina Dobrev?

There is no doubt that the love story of Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev as Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert remains to be the strongest point in "The Vampire Diaries" show.

In fact their chemistry was so goon on screen that it eventually developed off screen as well. However, things went sour between the couple leading to their split.

Seven years following the first season of "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev finally decided to take her final bow and leave the show.

Now at season 7, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley who play the vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore, were left to continue with the show.

With Nina Dobrev no longer in the lineup, CW is reportedly thinking of ending the series early, Inquisitr speculated.

Celeb Dirty Laundry confirmed that the studio has decided to move "The Vampire Diaries" on Friday instead of its usual Thursday time slot.

This move reportedly caused quite a stir about Ian Somerhalder's plans for the show.

Apparently, Inquisitr added that the 36-year-old actor is actually worried about the new time slot, which could reportedly lead to his exit.

"'The Vampire Diaries' has held its Thursday night schedule for some time now, and a move to Friday is typical for shows that are getting ready to be cancelled or are suffering from low ratings. In this case, both of these factors may have played a part in the change. In fact, many fans have already noted this and expressed their own worry that the hit series may be approaching an end," the publication noted.

Dobrev's decision to leave the show at the start of season 7 reportedly did not sit well with the fans, Movie News Guide reported.

This could be reflected to its the show's episode 7, which received an all time low rating of only getting a little more than one million viewers.

While Ian Somerhalder remains tightlipped about his rumored exit, he did speak about the effect of Nina Dobrev's exit from "The Vampire Diaries."

"I personally think everyone thought it was going to be a huge departure after Elena (Nina Dobrev) was gone," he explained told Variety. "And I was one of those people. I thought it was going to be a huge departure for the typical formula of our show. By virtue of the fact that it wasn't a huge leap for mankind, as far as changing it up, there were some differences that sort of mixed up the formula."
