Xbox Live with Gold free games for the month of December 2015 begins to roll out.

For this month's free titles, Microsoft treats its Xbox Live with Gold members with five free games- two for Xbox One and three for Xbox 360, according to Major Nelson.

In addition to these, "Knight Squad" for Xbox One which has been free since Nov. 16 will be available until Dec. 15 which makes a total of six free titles this month.

Xbox One free titles highlights "The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing." It will be free throughout December, while "Thief" can be downloaded on Dec. 16 until January 15 next year.

"The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing might be a mouthful of a title, but it's actually a very simple game to get into - although one with a ton of layers, viewed from an isometric, top-down perspective. You play the title character, and your job is to kick some monster butt while leveling up your weapons, your abilities, and yourself along the way. If you enjoyed any of the games in the 'Diablo' series, or have a penchant for Eastern European mythology, you'll definitely dig The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing," Xbox Wire wrote.

On the other hand, Xbox 360 owners with Gold subscription get the projectile-based arcade game "CastleStorm" for free on Dec. 1 until 15, and will be replaced by titles "Sacred 3" and military simulation game "Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising on the second half of December.

Moreover, Xbox One owners can finally play some of their Xbox 360 titles on their consoles as the Xbox Backward Compatibility feature finally rolls out. As of the moment there are more than Xbox 360 titles that are now playable on Xbox One through this feature. You can check out the list of games here.

Interestingly, upcoming Xbox 360 titles will be backwards compatible for the Xbox One, OceanSidePost added.
