NBA Trade Rumors: Fast Rising Big Man Is Underused And Should Be Shipped To New Team

If you're doing well in the league, two things can happen to your career.

One, you either get extended with a higher pay or second, another team buys your services for a more lucrative contract. For Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside, NBA trade rumors suggest the 26-year old might find himself with another team soon.

Whiteside has been doing great since the start of the season. However, with his improvement also comes inevitable demand for a max contract. And with Heat's shallow squad, he is turning out to be the best, arguably, tradeable asset they have to get another high scoring player.

Guys from Hot Hot Hoops also suggest Erik Spoelstra is not maximizing the potential of the 2010 draft pick, making it more probable that he will look for a team where he can further improve.

"There's a real issue here because there are nights when Whiteside is or can be the best player on the court for Miami and they aren't utilizing him enough," it wrote.

"Whiteside runs up and down the court and works his tail off on defense and makes up for his teammates mistakes and then is never looked at on the other end."

Another argument why these NBA trade rumors concerning Whiteside are surfacing is the free agency. With him about to become a free agent, he is more likely to ask for a max contract, which these days is very easy to get. However, some argue that Whiteside does not deserve it yet. Does he really deserves max contract?

"In a vacuum, the answer is probably no because he isn't an elite offensive talent - although he's a very important one to Miami - and despite his insane block numbers, he's not really an elite defender," Today Fast Break said after breaking down the center's improvement since joining Miami Heat in 2014.

"However, once you consider DeAndre Jordan and Enes Kanter both got maxed out last offseason, and an argument could be made that neither one of them are as good as Whiteside, the max-side discussion tilts in favor of Miami's Sultan of Swat."

Right now, all of these will stay as NBA trade rumors since Miami Heat are doing great so far and movements of players is unnecessary until before the playoffs.
