‘The Sims 4’ Gets Patch, Free Holiday-Themed DLC Before ‘Get Together’ Release Date Next Week

Just a week before its "Get Together" expansion pack release date, "The Sims 4" got major patch update as well as a new DLC which brings holiday-themed content to the game.

"The Sims 4" is getting into the holiday spirit with an updated Holiday Celebration Pack released last week.

"There are new snowflake decals, a lighted tree, piles of presents, a tree centerpiece, and new formal outfits that are perfect for wearing to holiday parties," per the game's official website.

Those who have already downloaded the Holiday Celebration Pack last year will reportedly find the new content available upon starting "The Sims 4."

The updated DLC brings new items on top of the ones made available last year. If you haven't downloaded it, add the Holiday Celebration Pack to your game for free via Origin.

Together with the DLC, "The Sims 4" also received a major patch ahead of the "Get Together" release date, according to The Inquisitr. Among new content reportedly added to the game are the Pool Venue, updated UI elements and new interaction prompts on items. This allows players to hire specific services.

The patch also brings a 64-bit executable file for players who use 64-bit Windows. EA assured that the correct version of "The Sims 4" will automatically be chosen without the need for player intervention. Refer to this brief FAQ for more details.

Per The Inquisitr, the patch also disables mods "in case a modification breaks after a patch is deployed." Players can re-enable mods after the update - which will be the norm from now on. A separate FAQ explains the matter further.

Lastly, the latest "The Sims 4" patch fixes bugs and other issues of the game. For a complete list of changes, refer to the official patch notes from EA.

"The Sims 4: Get Together" release date is on Dec. 8. The expansion pack brings new features and content to the game including a European-inspired area called Windenburg, a new Club feature and other gameplay updates, among others.
