Fossil Q Founder Now Available Via Google Store For $295; Cheaper Version ‘Coming Soon’

The Fossil Q Founder is finally available via Google Store priced at $295 with a stainless steel strap. A cheaper version with a leather strap will follow.

As Android Authority pointed out, Fossil's Android Wear smartwatch has been available through their website. The Google Store's listing carries the same price tag.

For the price, you get a 1.5-inch display with a 240ppi pixel density, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of built-in storage, according to Phone Arena. The Fossil Q Founder reportedly has enough juice to last it beyond 24 hours.

The result of a partnership with Intel, the Q Founder is powered by an Atom CPU from the chipmaker as opposed to the Qualcomm chips common among other smartwatches in the platform. Fossil's smartwatch is also IP67 certified which means its water and dust resistant.

Other doodads include an accelerometer, gyroscope and activity tracker which tracks the number of steps you take, calories and more. There's no heart-rate sensor though.

The Fossil Q Founder works with devices running at least iOS 8 and Android 4.4.

The smartwatch does sport the original Moto 360's "flat tire" look which you may or may not like.

But being designed by Fossil, an experienced watchmaker, Engadget said the Q Founder is for someone "who might want a smartwatch that won't embarrass them in public."

Unveiled at an Intel event earlier this year, the Q Founder is just one of Fossil's new wearable devices. The line also includes the Q Grant smartwatch (starts at $175) as well as the Q Reveler and Q Dreamer fitness trackers (both at $125).

Those devices launched back in Oct, as Franchise Herald reported then.

Right now, you can buy the Fossil Q Founder with a stainless steel strap for $295 with free shipping on Google Store. The Android Wear smartwatch is also listed with a leather strap option for $275 which is "coming soon."
