"The Flash" fall finale episode featured the arrival of Wally West who according to recent "The Flash" season 2 spoilers is in a multi-episode arc.
Fans know Wally is another speedster in the comics. He and his uncle Barry are forever linked to the Speed Force. In the CW Network superhero series, they are not nephew and uncle. Wally is the long lost brother of Barry's childhood friend Iris (Candice Patton).
Barry and Wally's relationship in the comics before the New 52 is great. In the TV series, the two's relationship is the opposite. As Keiynan Lonsdale puts it, his character and Grant Gustin's will have some kind of rivalry.
"It is funny, in my opinion," Lonsdale said when asked by Entertainment Weekly to share "The Flash" season 2 spoiler regarding his character and relationship with the Flash's alter-ego.
"Wally is trying to find his place within this family, but his place is already kind of taken, in his eyes at least, by Barry. He isn't the biggest fan of Barry in the beginning. Obviously we know in the future and in the comics at least that they're going to be running side by side, but at this point, it's a funny sibling rivalry from Wally's end, at least. Barry's such a great guy. He's such a funny, nice human that it makes the dynamic pretty entertaining."
The young actor also said that he does not known when or how Wally get his super speed.
"I don't know what it's going to be like when he does get his powers," he said. "I haven't been made aware yet of when or how that will happen. It will be interesting to see how he's introduced to everything and in what way, in terms of metahumans and S.T.A.R. Labs."
For now, Wally's story will revolve more on his relationship with his family who he never got to share days with until the Christmas eve he knocked on their door. His father Joe (Jesse L. Martin) does not know about him until his mother Francine arrived in Central City.
Francine did not have any plans to tell that she has a son with Joe before she was sent away for drug addiction. However, Iris learned about it and told his father who was devastated by the revelation.
"The Flash" season 2 return is on January 19 for the 10th episode titled "Potential Energy."
