'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 3 Return Spoiler: Ward's New Persona Is Bigger Than Inhumans?

When "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 returns next year, most of the questions that fans want to be answered immediately has something to do with Agent Ward (Brett Dalton).

The former SHIELD agent was among those who were transported to the mysterious planet. His body was able to return to earth like Agent Phil Coulson and Fitz. However, the soul and brain inside is not the person SHIELD used to hate.

"I mean, this guy looks like Ward, but this is a new chapter for the character and for me as the actor playing it," Dalton told IGN when asked to recap his character's fate in "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 fall finale episode.

"It will be a whole new set of challenges. It's a big deal."

The mysterious creature occupying Ward's body will stay longer and the actor adds that it has a purpose to fulfill, something bigger than what is put on the shoulders of inhumans.

"If I do it right, sure, absolutely, this would be trading one for the other," he said.

"But also, Malick mentioned something about there was a purpose for every Inhuman. They each had their own task or their own cog in this bigger machinery. That was one of the themes of one of the episodes. Perhaps this creature's task is somehow is even bigger than -- I'm trying not to give away plot stuff. [He has a bigger task] than some of the other Inhumans, and that might be his task in this greater picture."

There are no confirmations yet from the show whether Ward's new character will be an enemy or an ally.

But whatever he might be, it is good to know that Coulson and his crew are establishing a new more powerful team that will deal with superhuman events. This team is called Secret Warriors.

"They certainly came in and were helpful," executive producer Jeff Bell told Comicbook.com.

"It was the first time that they were put together in some kind of meaningful way, and I would say just keep looking forward to more of that as we... I think we, as writers on the show, feel like we have to earn this group. It wasn't just like everybody who had a power could suddenly get a cool uniform and be part of a team, you have to figure out how to do that. Yeah, we're moving in that direction."

"Agents of SHIELD" season 3 return is on March 8 next year.
