‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Lauren Cohan’s New Haircut Cause Maggie Death Speculation

Dec 15, 2015 10:41 AM EST | By Jason Fonbuena

Lauren Cohan showed off her new haircut recently leaving fans to worry that "The Walking Dead" season 6 will be Maggie's last.

According to Design & Trend, Cohan's shorter hair was first spotted last week at the iHeart Radio Z100 2015 Jingle Ball in New York City. This was followed by fans freaking out on social media that her new 'do is foretelling Maggie's death.

As HNGN pointed out, actors in popular TV shows normally have contractual obligations to maintain a certain look. But fan reaction to Cohan's new look isn't unfounded.

With Jeffrey Dean Morgan cast as the villain Negan, those who have read the comic books know all too well that something big is coming up.

Careful for spoilers from here on out.

If the next half of "The Walking Dead" season 6 follows its source material, "then Maggie is headed for a lot of heartbreak," Vanity Fair said. Glenn (Steven Yeun) ends up dying in the hands of Negan which means Mrs. Rhee will have to raise their baby on her own.

That, on top of losing her father and sister, could be the reason for Maggie's new haircut. The website also pointed to an earlier "Walking Dead" comic book where Glenn and Maggie cut their hair to cope with their new life.

But Maggie isn't in the clear just yet as showrunner Scott Gimple earlier teased "TWD" season 6 would make "hard left turns."

Many fans believe Maggie might die instead of Glenn as killing off the latter is seen as unlikely because the first half of season 6 just dealt with his fake death, according to VF.

"As brutal as it sounds, killing the pregnant Maggie would help the show regain some of the tension it lost his past season," HNGN said.

For now though, Maggie's death remains purely speculative. Fans will have to wait and see what will happen when "The Walking Dead" season 6 returns on Feb. 14.
