Could Slipknot be working on a new album following the release of ".5: The Gray Chapter" last year?

While the heavy metal band is still on tour performing songs from their last album, Shawn "Clown" Crahan revealed to  Metal Injection that there are already songs lined up for a new album.

"But we're writing now," Crahan said of the new Slipknot album. "We're in the rhythm of writing all the time, which is a very helpful tool, because we love doing that. So it's not a waste of time. It's not anything that won't get used. Usually, if we're writing, it's passion."

And apparently, Clown and the rest of his band members are already looking to release their new album sometime in 2017.

"I'm not sure, 'cause we're slated to tour the rest of this year and some of next year," he said. "So... I mean, it takes six months to make a record... [And then] marketing and preparation... So, you know, if we're touring the rest of this year and some of next year, it could be as early as the first quarter of 2017. I mean, I'm just giving you actual facts."

In addition to that, it is starting to look like that singer Corey Taylor have been working as well with a few songs. According to a

Meanwhile, Nerdist reported that vocalist, Corey Taylor is getting his hands very busy by writing new songs.

While it's not clear is its for Slipknot or Stone Sour, the multi talented musician is certainly working hard to provide new music to his fans.

"On the music side, I'm just kind of demoing some stuff right now," Taylor said. "I'm not sure what it's gonna be for. Whether it's some solo stuff or whatever. But that's really it-finishing up the Stone Sour EPs that we're working on. So really nothing new at the moment. But you never know, I'm getting requests for guest appearances all the time. So I'm sure it's just a matter of time before I appear on somebody else's album again."
