Samsung Stores: 60 New Locations Open Throughout Europe Beginning in April

Samsung is set to open 60 new retail locations throughout Europe beginning in April a press release reported Wednesday.

The stores are expected to house Samsung mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and smart watches as part of its partnership with Carphone Warehouse, out of the United Kingdom The Financial Times reported.

Consumers will also be able to receive assistance with activating new smartphones, and become knowledgable about how they work The Times reported.

"We are delighted to have been chosen as Samsung's preferred European partner for their store roll-out," Harrison said in a statement  "Our Connected World Services business will combine Carphone Warehouse's retailing expertise and systems with one of the world's biggest brands and will help us make even more lives better through connected technology," Andrew Harrison, CEO, at Carphone Warehouse told The TImes. 

"Together, we will create a powerful new retail concept to showcase, for our customers, a wide range of products, content and services as well as injecting both investment and new jobs into the retail sector," Andrew Harrison, CEO at Carphone Warehouse told The Times.

Twenty-five percent of the locations are planned for the United Kingdom. The rest will be built throughout other countries in the continent including Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Spain.

Carphone is expected to operate 60 percent or more of the stores throughout the continent The Times reported.

Samsung opened some stores in Spain to see how they fared before Wednesday's announcement.

Samsung sold 86 million smartphones during the 2013 fourth fiscal quarter CNBC reported.

The number is 29.6 million more than the 56.4 million iPhones its competitor Apple sold during the same time period.

Huawei and Lenovo came in third and fourth with 16.6 million and 13.6 units sold CNBC reported.
