Feb 17, 2014 12:18 PM EST | By Justin Stock

Two-hundred twenty-six thousand, seven hundred ten pounds of Nutriom egg products could have salmonella contamination.

The recall includes eggs in OvaEasy and Egg Crystal made anywhere from Feb. 28, 2013, and Feb. 8  according to a press release from The United States Food Safety and Inspection Service Saturday. The products were sent throughout the United States to United States military locations domestically and internationally.

"Due to a discrepancy in lab testing results, we are voluntarily recalling the lots listed below as a precautionary measure," Nutriom said in a statement on its website. "The problem was discovered by Washington State Laboratories in response to a billing inquiry by us. The lot information is printed on every bag and every case, please check any product you have for this information. We are undertaking this action in cooperation with the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture," Nutriom said in the statement.

"We are very sorry for this disruption. We are changing our documentation procedures to ensure this never happens again. We take food safety very seriously and ask for your help in this action," Nutriom said in the statement.

Nutriom and The United States Department of Agriculture have not heard of any illnesses related to the recall.
