Breast milk is becoming a popular energy drink: Report

The latest energy drink is not a protein shake or a super green smoothie - its breast milk.

From improving energy levels to giving you a protein boost- breast milk is now the all natural 'magic elixir' as quoted by the growing number of health advocates that swear by its effectiveness.

One Queens man named Anthony told New York Magazine he started drinking breast milk after discovering that it was a stamina-builder used by men he'd met at the gym.

"It gives me incredible energy I don't get from other food and drinks," he told the magazine.  "I always compensate the women I buy from."

According to the American Pregnancy Association, human breast milk is composed of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates plus cells called leukocytes: "They help fight infection. It is the antibodies, living cells, enzymes, and hormones that make breast milk ideal. These cannot be added to formula," the association said.

Infact, a study led by Dr Catharina Svanborg from Lung University has also revealed how breast milk could cause cancerous cells to 'commit suicide.'

Quality is indeed a concern for breast milk buffs, a study by the Journal of Pediatrics last October found "high overall bacterial growth and frequent contamination" in samples bought online.
