Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Eva Green Says She Was Offered Boring Roles Reason Why She's Gone For A

Eva Green rose to Hollywood prominence for her role as Vesper Lynd in 2006 James Bond movie Casino Royale starring Daniel Craig. The film earned her several awards including Empire Award for Best Female Newcomer and BAFTA Rising Star Award. From there on, she became in demand for many blockbuster films, many of which have her in the leading role. However, in 2013, the French actress was not found on any projects. Why? Here's her explanation.

In an interview with the Rolling Stone magazine, the 34year old actress revealed that she turned down some offers back then because she didn't find them interesting enough.

"To tell you the truth," she said. "I was not offered something interesting [after Casino Royale] by Hollywood. Every role was the boring beautiful girl. Instead of doing that, I made movies that not a lot of people saw but were good for my heart. I've always found the movie business rather cold, so finding parts to play and having people enjoy them has made this year a miracle for me."

Judging by the movie and TV roles she got this year, it seems that Green got exactly what she wanted. In 300: Rise of An Empire that hit theaters in March of this year, she played vengeful Persian warrior Artemisia. She even had a 'sex fight' with costar Sullivan Stapleton. In Showtime's Penny Dreadful, she is Vanessa Ives, a composed and driven heroine who battles scary creatures and proves that she's a force to be reckoned with. Her role for the upcoming film Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is no different. There, she plays Ava Lord, a manipulative woman who victimizes men for her own gain.

"It's been fun playing these strong, sexual women," she told Rolling Stone. "Especially in Sin City my character is a real bitch. She uses her body as a weapon. It's very jubilating to do that. I wish I had the balls of my characters."

Sin City: A Dame To Kill For is set to open this week. The movie parades an ensemble cast lead by Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Jaime King, Jude Ciccolella, Powers Boothe, Mickey Rourke, Joseph GordonLevitt, Josh Brolin, and Bruce Willis.
