Mario Balotelli-Liverpool Deal Is A Calculated Risk, Brendan Rodgers Insists; Super Mario Writes Emotional Letter For AC Milan

Aug 27, 2014 02:00 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Mario Balotelli-Liverpool deal is done. Still, critics won't stop saying that this could be a bad pick up for the 2013-14 English Premier League runner-up. They insist that the Italian striker will be a source of headache because of his inconsistency and his ill-tempered personality.

However, for Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, the Mario Balotelli-Liverpool deal will bear fruits in the future.

"I think to get someone of that quality in this market is a very good deal for us," said Rodgers, who bemoaned his team's defending at City. "He is a world-class talent and it is an area we need to strengthen. It is a calculated risk but one where we believe we can help him as a player and to mature as a young man.

The 24-yer old striker had 43 appearances for AC Milan and netted 27 goals.

Super Mario's emotional farewell

Although he only spent one season with AC Milan, Balotelli was drawn very close to the fans and his teammates. On August 26, Super Mario sent his heart-felt farewell to his fans and former club through an Instagram post. It reads:

As I am about to enter a new chapter, I would like to thank @acmilan fans who have shown incredible loyalty and faith in me. I also want to thank the great staff who have shown exceptional patience and guidence over the years. Most importantly, I want to express endless gratitude to my teammates who supported me on and off the pitch, just like my family does. Your camaraderie will be forever appreciated, as I've learned so much from you all. I leave Milan with sadness, but know that I will still make you all proud going forward. #FORZAMILAN!!!! #ThankYouMilan❤️❤️❤️⚫️
