The Manny Pacquiao-Algieri fight is a bit odd pairing according to many boxing pundits. Whatever experts say, this match is going to be a blockbuster and the economy of Shanghai, the venue of the match, will surely reap benefits from it. Well, it looks like Pacquiao will be frequently seen in China after his math with Chris Algieri, something that will not only favour Shanghai but the whole Chinese country. No, he won't be there for another fight in the ring. He'll be in the country for his own boxing academy.

Speaking in Shanghai while promoting his fight against Algieri, the eight-time world champion told the press that Manny Pacquiao Boxing Education Institute is now underway in Beijing and that it is expected to expand through the country.

"The plan is to share with them my boxing knowledge," the 35-year old boxer said who is also a congressman in the Philippine province of Saranggani.

"With a population of 1.4 billion, they have so many boxers. So I think they would be able to produce good fighters, like world champions.

"The important thing is to teach them the basics."

"They (Chinese government) will put up the facilities, and if I have the time, I will visit them like once a month or once in three months to supervise them," he added.

His Filipino fans were quick to scrutinize this plan asking why not do it in his country. Pacquiao defended his move saying he is already helping local boxing aspirants.

"In the Philippines we don't have a problem (with producing good boxers). What our boxers need is more support. I am already helping a few of them," he explained.

In a country with a population of over 1.3 billion that can't produce a world-class professional boxer, it is just fitting to have legit, seasoned, and scientific fighter to help China improve in the sport. However, for his country that has a territorial dispute against China, Pacquiao will surely be put under fire, especially with the fact that he is a reserve lieutenant colonel in the local army.

"This will even help in strengthening our relationship ... especially since in this project, the Chinese government is involved," he said.

Manny Pacquiao-Algieri Fight will take place on November 22 wherein the Filipino fighter will put his welterweight title on the line.
