After years of being engaged, "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally tied the knot in France over the weekend.

A small chapel at Chateau Miraval in Correns witnessed the private wedding which was attended by their loved ones shared a spokesman for the couple.

A source of news.com.au said that during the ceremony, Jolie was wearing a small gold locket that was once her mother's.

The source went on saying that the "Maleficent" actress wore a veil, which when "Brad lifted it [he] gasped because she looked so stunning."

"Brangelina" has six children who took their share of this intimate event. The eldest sons Maddox and Pax walked down the aisle with their mother. Throwing flower petals were Zahara and Vivienne, and serving as ring bearers were Shiloh and Knox.

The couple got their marriage license from a judge in California, who also officiated the wedding ceremony in France.

In 2012, Pitt and Jolie were engaged after seven years of being together. Pitt had reiterated that he would not want to marry until gay marriage has become the law of the land.

This wedding is Pitt's second after his divorce with Jennifer Aniston in 2005.

In 1996, Jolie was married to British actor Jonny Lee Miller for three years and to Billy Bob Thornton for three years. They soon divorced in 2003.

Jolie had told "People" magazine earlier this year that she and Pitt "are just waiting for the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right."

The 39-year-old celebrity told the magazine that she and Pitt did not feel like lovers any more, explaining: "You have this person you live with who really knows you, and you know them so well. You're not lovers or boyfriend and girlfriend as much as you are family."
