'Flappy Bird' Game Maker Back With A Vengeance, Creates 'Swing Copters'; Simple But ‘Mind-cracking’ Game Is More Frustrating That It's Impossible To Score

"Flappy Bird" game developer Dong Nguyen could be the master of unplayable mobile phone games.

After the success of the "Flappy Bird" game, Nguyen is back with another challenging yet maddening game called "Swing Copters." Nguyen told CNET that "most  people don't find the game entertaining because it's too difficult."

"However, I believe the game is still challenging enough when people want the final medal or compete with their friends," he said.

Like in "Flappy Bird", one has to tap the screen rhythmically to keep the little creature floating in the air. To make the game more difficult, two mallets are continuously swinging side by side while the creature tries to make its way up.

At first, a player may be hit with frustration as the character smashes itself to any object around, especially the mallets that block the gaps where it should pass through. Adding to the blockade are the "steels" holding the mallets. If you think you have passed though with the mallets, be sure not to collide with these "steels."

It would take minutes before the player could actually get the right timing and rhythm.

The game's update includes gameplay tuning that seems to be equivalent to slower speed of creature's swinging. Comparably, the Flappy Bird game is easier to navigate as there are no moving objects around.

However, it seems that the game's difficulty serves a purpose. Joost van Dreunen of Superdata Research, told CNET that "the difficulty level and the necessary level of masochism reqquired to plaay this game becomes a topic of conversation--and a vehicle to promote this game directly."

As of writing, this almost uncontrollable game has a 4-star rate on Apple's App Store and a million downloads on Play Store.

One player of the game named Crylom has nice things to say about "Swing Copters": "Great game, simple, challenging and addicting."

While another player described the game as "the best, simple, mind-cracking game. Makes you lose your mind. But enjoyable."
