Days after the "Super Smash Bros." launch in Japan, fans couldn't wait for the upcoming "Super Smash Bros" Wii U release date set for the holiday season.

After selling more than a million copies in Japan in its first release in 1999, "Super Smash Bros." has come a long way. Capturing its audience with the ability to crossover known characters from a wide variety of popular video games, "Super Smash Bros." has acquired positive feedback since the first release.

Upon the "Super Smash Bros. Melee " release in 2001, game critics have raved about the franchise. GameSpy reviews on the installment says, "Melee really scores big in the 'we've added tons of great extra stuff' department."

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl" released in 2008 also made headlines upon its release, with Nintendo Power commenting that "Brawl" is "one of the very best games that Nintendo ever produced."

According to MagicBox, "Super Smash Bros." sold more than 2 million copies in the US, and a million less in Japan. With "Super Smash Bros. Melee" selling more than 7 million copies worldwide, and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" around 1.5 million on the first week, the Nintendo franchise is known to be among America's fastest selling title, reports Nintendo.

The most recent "Super Smash Bros." has been released in Japan a few days ago and it has been selling as hot as pancakes. Clearly, this "Super Smash Bros." Wii U release date for US gamers can't come sooner.

Initial reports on "Super Smash Bros." Wii U release date showed a November 21 launch for the product, however the official site has revealed otherwise. To date, gamers have to settle with a very vague "Holiday 2014" announcement according to SmashBros.com.us.

Gamers will experience characters newcomers Shulk, Robin, Pac-Man, Palutena, Mii Fighters, Greninja, Little Mac, Rosalina and Lum Villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer, appearing in "Super Smash Bros." Wii U upon release date.
