Floyd Mayweather Next Fight News: Amir Khan Looms As Most Likely Opponent; Briton Likes Chances Against “Aging” Champion

Floyd Mayweather Sr. said in a Floyd Mayweather next fight news that his son will likely face Amir Khan in his next fight next year.

Mayweather Sr. said in an interview with Sky Sports that he is not expecting the super fight against Manny Pacquiao to happen, which makes him believe that Khan is the most logical option for the reigning pound-for-pound king.

"More than likely it won't be Pacquiao. I would say Amir Khan is number one on the list, but that's still not even permanent. There's still a few other fighters out there. I can't say who's permanent unless they ask for it," Mayweather Sr. said in a Floyd Mayweather next fight news.

Khan has been calling Mayweather out since the unbeaten champion scored a unanimous decision win against Marcos Maidana in their rematch on Saturday night.

The Briton, who almost landed his dream bout against Mayweather earlier this year before being edged by Maidana in the race, is convinced that he is the only fighter who has the tools to beat Floyd Jr.

"After seeing him win I believe I will beat him," Khan said. "Floyd, as we all know, isn't the biggest puncher. His footwork has slowed down, he only throws single punches and gets hit a lot more. We all know Maidana isn't the quickest, and he still got through with shots."

Khan sat at ringside during the Mayweather-Maidana rematch on Saturday night. And based from what he saw during the bout, he concluded that Mayweather is "aging big time."

"I can beat Floyd Mayweather with this style," Khan said. "Styles make fights. I think the speed, the movement, the power that we've developed, and being young. I know it's different when you're watching a fight from outside, but I saw a lot of flaws. He is aging big time."

The 27-year-old Bolton, England native said in a Floyd Mayweather next fight news that his speed will be too much for Mayweather, and that the Grand Rapids, Michigan native doesn't have the power to hurt him.

Khan, who holds a 29-3 record with 19 knockouts, is coming off a dominating win against Luis Collazo in May.
