Another DC Comics comes to your television screens and this time, its not really a superhero. "The Sandman" character Lucifer Morningstar gets his own slot as "Lucifer" TV series is on the works, according to Fox.

Neil Gaiman's masterpiece graphic novel "The Sandman" published by DC Comics beginning 1989 has come to share its story in the 21st century. With the graphic novel involving multi-awarded artists such as Dave McKean and Todd Klein, Mike Drigenberg, Sam Kieth, Shawn McManus, Jill Thompson, Marc Hempel and Michael Zulli, comic book fans flocked to grab their copies as early as its first release. "The Sandman" has since been published in numerous editions as demand continue to rise.

Lucifer is a supporting character in "The Sandman" series, appearing constantly in the intertwined in stories of the Endless siblings Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium and Destruction. Later on, the character eventually developed and launched his own series as "Lucifer" in 1999. To date, talks of "Lucifer" TV series has surfaced.

In "The Sandman", Lucifer was first a villainous character to Gaiman's lead character Morpheus. However, the humanity and kindness (in retrospect) of Lucifer's character is further examined as the graphic novel proceeds to the "Season of Mists" volume, where Morpheus asks Lucifer for guidance in his feat to rescue Nada.

According to Deadline, "Lucifer" TV series will be based on Neil Gaiman's Lucifer from "The Sandman" series. The report says, "The TV series, written and executive produced by Kapinos, centers on Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he opens an exclusive piano bar called Lux."

Tom Kapinos is known for producing and creating the television series "Californication".

Adapting the character into "Lucifer" TV series will ultimately open new avenues for DC Comics characters to invade the homescreens. Slashfilm.com explains further saying, "A Lucifer TV series could be one way to introduce Sandman characters without diving full-on into a series based entirely on Gaiman's stories."
